Futureversity CEO to judge Britain's Kindest Kid 2011

We're delighted to reveal that Futureversity Chief Executive Sarah Davies will be among the judges for the national TV comptetition Britain’s Kindest Kid 2011

Five News and the Charities Aid Foundation have begun the search for Britain’s Kindest Kid 2011, now in its fourth year, which recognises the extraordinary achievements of 5-16 year olds who've shown real kindness to others, or given up their time for a good cause.

Five finalists will have their stories told on Five News in late October and the winner, voted for by the public, will be announced in November. The winner will receive £1000 pocket money and £1000 to donate to the charity of their choice.

The winner of last year’s competition was Dylan Ward from Washington, Tyne and Wear. Dylan raised money for Macmillan Cancer Support, who cared for his Grandad before he died, by selling pictures he had painted.

Matt Barbet, Five News presenter said: 'Our young people often get bad press, when the vast majority of them are good. Britain’s Kindest Kid is about discovering those who make a real difference to other peoples’ lives, recognising their sacrifice, and rewarding them for doing it.'

Emma Crosby, Five News presenter said: 'We want to see inspirational kids enter who make the world a better place for others whether that’s helping their family, their community or through work with a charity.'

John Low, Chief Executive of the Charities Aid Foundation, said: 'Over the past three years we have seen fantastic stories about young people making a difference to the lives of others. I know there are many more young people out there whose stories deserve to be told. I encourage them to enter.'

A panel of expert judges will agree a shortlist of five candidates whose stories will be shown on Five News. The judges are Matt Barbet and Emma Crosby from Five News; John Low, Chief Executive of the Charities Aid Foundation and Sarah Davies, Chief Executive of Futureversity.

The closing date for entries is Monday 5 September 2011.
