This week, the Savoy Educational Trust is urging young people (11 to 25 years) to sign up for Tower Hamlets Futureversity summer courses for a chance to gain skills and qualifications in the hospitality industry.
The Savoy Educational Trust, set up in 1961, offers grants to charities and individuals supporting education initiatives in the hospitality and tourism industry.
As part of Futureversity's Summer Programme this year, the trust has helped fund two FREE courses in food hygiene leading to industry-recognised qualifications.
Margaret Georgiou, of the Savoy Educational Trust said: “The hospitality and tourism industry is growing and young people are the future of its success. Savoy Educational Trustees are proud to be supporting this year's Futureversity Summer Programme. Many jobs are being created in this industry every day and the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games are providing the focus needed to ensure the industry attracts new young people. We hope this year’s Futureversity summer courses will spark an interest in the hospitality and tourism industry so we can all benefit from their talents in the future.”
Run by industry professionals the FREE summer Futureversity courses running in Tower Hamlets are open to all young people from any borough in London.
Futureversity Programme Manager Abdul Azim said: “To anyone worrying about exam results or getting on the job ladder our message is clear - our summer programme improves employment prospects and is a chance to do something really worthwhile, involving meeting new people and trying out new things without fear of failure.”
Futureversity is also running courses in Ealing, Barnet and Greenwich that are available to young people who live, go to school, or work in those boroughs. The summer programme runs throughout July and August (2012). Call 020 7247 7900 or sign up online NOW for some of the best FREE courses yet at www.futureversity.org
